As you can see from the stamping and the package this is a very old version of the Ofmega Competizione bottom bracket, interstingly enough, in contrast to the later used eagle which just looks familiar to the Gnutti eagle, the eagle on the very first Ofmega parts beeing sold looks actually exactly like the Ofmega eagle, this is not the case for packaging though, some people suggest gnutti somewhat transformed into Ofmega, but its also just possible Gnutti produced for Ofmega in the early stage or that they bought the machinery from Gnutti and thus the same stamping tools, a further speculation ist that Magistroni (Officine Mecchanice Giostra) would have something to do with Ofmega, they say Ofmega would be an abriviation therefore, we dont think thats true, if looking on the very first Ofmega boxes it clearly states Ofmega - Officine Mecchanice Galvanotecnia, which makes much more sense.
So we do not believe in the connection towards Magistroni, but we cant deny there has to be some sort of connection to Gnutti as the eagle stamp and tooling signs are just too much off a match for it not beeing done by the same machine or tool further more also the location of the two ist much much more closer as comapred to Magistroni

Wie an der Prägung und Verpackung zu erkennen, handelt es sich hierbei um eine sehr alte Version des Ofmega Competizione Tretlagers, anzumerken gilt, dass der Adler auf den allerersten Ofmega Teilen die verkauft wurden, genau wie der Adler von Gnutti aussah, und nicht wie im Gegensatz zu dem später verwendeten Adler dem Gnutti-Adler bloß ähnelt, dies ist bei der Verpackung jedoch nicht der Fall, daher auch die häufig gehörte Vermutung Gnutti hätte sich zu Ofmega entwickelt haben, in warheit ist es aber genauso gut möglich, dass Gnutti zum beginn der Fahrradteile Produktion von Ofmega im Auftrag für diese produziert hat oder dass Ofmega die Maschinen von Gnutti aufgekauft hat und somit auch die Stempelwerkzeuge. Eine weitere Spekulation ist, dass Magistroni (Officine Mecchanice Giostra) etwas mit Ofmega zu tun haben könnte und das Ofmega als Abkürzung hierfür steht, wir glauben das nicht, betrachtet man die allerersten Ofmega Verpackungen steht dort Ofmega - Officine Mecchanice Galvanotecnia, was viel sinnvoller erklärt wofür Ofmega wirklich steht.
Wir glauben also nicht an eine Verbindung zu Magistroni, können aber nicht leugnen, dass es eine Verbindung zu Gnutti geben muss, da die Adlerprägung und die Werkzeugmarkierungen einfach zu sehr übereinstimmen, als dass sie nicht von derselben Maschine oder demselben Werkzeug stammen, außerdem sind sich Gnutti und Ofmega auch geographisch sehr sehr viel näher als zu Magistroni
Wie dem auch sein, wir bieten hier jedenfalls ein sehr seltenes und hochwertiges Ofmega Tretlager der ersten Generation mit Vierkantaufnahme
